What's new in VIMS 2.3
VIMS 2.3 is now supported on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10
Along with multiple fixes to improve overall program stability here are the major changes you will see with VIMS 2.3. For more information on any of the following enhancements please contact us.VIMS Control Panel
Change Passwords:
In version 2.3 of VIMS any user now has the ability to change their password via the 'Change Password' menu. Now when a user forgets their password the VIMS Administrator can set a temporary password and have the user change this password after they have logged on.
Dashboard Controls:
We have added 'Dashboard Controls' to the Main Control Panel screen. With these new controls users have easy access to commonly used menu items with a single click. These controls can be Show/Hidden by checking or un-checking the 'Show Dashboard Controls' option from the 'Help' menu.
Disable Type Codes:
In order to preserve data integrity there are very few places within the VIMS application where you are allowed to delete data. We did however notice a need to hide certain antiquated information from the user. In version 2.2 of VIMS an administrator can now hide unused Type Codes from being used in current records by checking the 'Disabled' checkbox from the Type Code Detail screen This will prevent users from seeing this option when creating new records but will leave existing records unchanged.
Disable Locations:
Similar to Type Codes we realized that your organization may need to hide a Location from future use. In VIMS 2.2 you can disable a Location by simply checking the 'Disabled' checkbox on the Location detail form. Once again disabling a Location will not affect any records that are currently using this field.
Employee Documents/Images
Although VIMS is not designed to replace your existing HR software package we did recognize the need to store additional information along with the VIMS employee record. As such we have added the ability to store Documents and Images directly with the Employee record. This will give you the ability to add external documents such as a resume, or images such as licenses or certifications along with the other employee information.Incident Module
Disable Incident Template
Just like Type Codes and Locations you can now disable Incident Templates so that users can not create incidents using that template in the future.
Change Incident Template
Again because we value the integrity of the data we collect, in previous versions of VIMS once you created and Incident Record there was no way to delete this record if there was an error selecting the Incident Template. While we still don't allow the deletion of Incident Records we have added the ability to change the Template if the classification of an Incident changes. i.e. Change an 'Injury' to a 'Near Miss'. Clicking on the 'Change Incident Template' menu will allow the user to switch the Incident Template to any of your organization's currently active Incident Templates.
Change Incident Template Security
The ability to change the Incident Template is a configurable option that can be assigned to a VIMS security group.VIMS Reporting
While the Location Hierarchy has been a part of VIMS for quite a while,
until now we were unable to generate reports using this hierarchy. In VIMS 2.2,
where ever possible, you are now able to generate a report for a specific Location and
any sub-locations below it in the
hierarchy. This allows for a more robust reporting
experience and aides in performing data trending and analysis.
